What type of sample do I need for TIMA and LIBS?
Drill core, hand samples and rock chip are all suitable for both techniques.
Concentrates can also be measured on TIMA.

Are the techniques destructive?
No, LIBS simply exfoliates a very fine 5 – 15 micron layer from the sample.
For TIMA analyses the samples have to be made into polished buttons and carbon coated, but these samples can then be analysed by LIBS.

How much sample do I need to submit?
For TIMA we need a rock sample. that is preferably at least 3x3x3cm or enough rock chips to fill this volume, and for LIBS it depends on how much sample you want analysed.

Will I get my samples back?
Core scanned by LIBs can be returned and TIMA polished mounts can also be returned along with any remaining sample material.
Ultimately, they are your samples and will be returned to you.

Do you store samples and if so for how long?
Our standard operating practice is to try and turn work around as quickly as possible, including returning samples once they have been measured.
That said, we can store samples, but for a small fee. Please contact us to discuss.

What are the expected turnaround times for TIMA and LIBS analysis?
This will depend on how busy we are and how many samples you want analysed, but we aim for a 4 week turnaround in normal circumstances.

How much does it cost?
This depends on what you are looking for, the scope of works and whether it will be ongoing work. Please contact us so we can discuss your requirements and tailor a package to suit.

Are there different analysis packages I can buy?
Yes, please get in touch. We can provide a full data acquisition, mapping and interpretation service or you can buy time on the machines to scan your samples and interpret the raw data yourself. Or anything in between!

Can you provide a sample report/case study so I can see to expected output?
